One of the biggest myths in entrepreneurship is that confidence comes before action.
Sujata Biswas believes the opposite.
Before starting Suta, leaving her PhD journey, working with the first weavers, selling the first sarees, hiring employees, or opening stores—she wasn’t confident.
She was uncertain.
But she moved forward anyway.
And that’s what makes this story powerful.
Many aspiring founders wait for the perfect moment. More experience. More skills. More confidence. But in reality, confidence is rarely the starting point.
It is the result.
The things that once felt intimidating become familiar. The things that seem impossible become manageable. Experience builds confidence—not the other way around.
Looking back, Sujata’s lesson is simple:
Suta wasn’t built because she felt ready.
It was built because she kept taking the next step before she did.
Sometimes the next step doesn’t require more confidence.
It requires taking the step first.
