Good morning,

The week’s money told one clear story. Brands are coming for the Indian home: your TV, your kitchen chimney, your bathroom tap. Four home brands raised over ₹550 crore between them, and two of them are putting software inside the product itself.

The Big Story: The Battle for the Indian Home

What happened

Four brands raised money this week to win a room in your house.

• The living room. Lumio raised $12 Mn in Series A, led by Blume Ventures. Founded in 2024 by Raghu Reddy (ex-Xiaomi India) and Kailash Sankaranarayanan (ex-Flipkart), it sells smart TVs, projectors and speakers against Samsung, LG, Sony and Xiaomi. It says it crossed ₹100 crore in GMV within 13 months. Its edge is software: TLDR, an AI content-discovery engine in nine Indian languages.

• The kitchen. Beyond Appliances raised ₹110 crore in Series B, led by Fireside Ventures. Its flagship is an Android-powered chimney with a screen that plays music, sets cooking reminders and syncs grocery lists with Zepto and Blinkit. Founded in August 2024, it made ₹40 crore in FY26 revenue.

• The bathroom. Lorazzo raised ₹15 crore, led by Sauce, for its design-led faucets, sinks, showers and smart toilets. Revenue grew six times in a year.

• Everything you carry. DailyObjects raised ₹332 crore in Series C at a ₹1,050 crore valuation, led by Xponentia Capital Partners, Anicut Capital and Axiom Asia. Early backer Roots Ventures partly exited at 18 times its money.

Why it matters

These are some of the least “D2C” categories in India. TVs belong to Korean and Chinese giants. Chimneys, taps and toilets are sold by old-school brands through dealers and plumbers. Nobody shops for them on Instagram.

That’s exactly the opportunity. When a category has no brand people love, a new one can win with design and a better experience, not just a lower price.

Our view

The new wedge is software inside the product. Lumio isn’t trying to out-manufacture Samsung; it’s trying to make its TV easier to use. Beyond isn’t selling a better motor; it’s selling a chimney that helps you cook. When hardware becomes a commodity, the screen, the app and the AI become the brand.

But the home is a harder business than skincare. These brands carry heavy inventory, need installers and service teams, and depend on returns staying low. Beyond already makes about 90% of its products in-house and is planning a new plant. Lumio is putting part of its new money into after-sales support. That’s the right instinct: in home categories, the service after the sale is the brand.

What to watch

After-sales reviews. A TV or chimney brand lives or dies on what happens when something breaks. If these brands get service right, Samsung and the old dealer networks have a real fight on their hands.

The Deal Sheet: 3–9 October

Seven D2C brands raised money this week, more than ₹560 crore between them, and one big acquisition moved forward.

Acquisitions

The signal. Sauce led a D2C round for the third week running: Unniyarcha and betterhood, then EDT, now Lorazzo. And two of the week’s biggest cheques went into hardware for the home. Investors are getting comfortable with brands that ship boxes, not just bottles.

The Number: 5.6X

That’s how much Plix’s turnover grew in two years: from ₹155.32 crore in FY24 to ₹864.31 crore in FY26. On 5 October, Marico paid ₹1,012 crore in cash for another 24.09% of Plix’s parent, taking its stake to 84.09%. It plans to buy the remaining 14.09% in July 2027.

That tranche values Plix at roughly ₹4,200 crore (our calculation from the deal price), about 4.9 times its FY26 turnover. Last week, ITC’s Yoga Bar deal worked out to about 2.7 times revenue. The difference is the growth curve. For founders, the lesson from two exits in two weeks: FMCG giants pay most for brands that are still accelerating when they arrive.

Store Watch

This week’s offline moves, at home and abroad:

• DailyObjects plans 150 exclusive stores over five years, on top of nearly 350 retail touchpoints today.

• Beyond Appliances has 3 exclusive stores and 15–20 in the pipeline, and wants to grow from 300–400 retail touchpoints to 1,500–2,000.

• Lumio is starting offline retail so customers can see a TV before they buy it.

• Pluckk opened in 17 UK stores in its first month, taking a 15% share of the protein-bar shelf in them. It’s aiming for 100 stores in three months and 500 in a year.

The pattern from the Big Story holds here too: when a customer can’t touch the product online, home brands go offline sooner.

Quick Hits

• aiqa goes direct. After six years selling through employers, the health platform is now selling health plans straight to consumers, starting with a doctor-led weight-management programme. It already makes about ₹100 crore in revenue and adds nearly 1 lakh members a month.

• KisaanSay quadruples. The farm-to-consumer food brand’s revenue grew 4X to ₹20 crore in FY26, with 60% of sales through D2C. It wants to work with 2 lakh farmers by FY27, up from 50,000+.

• Quick commerce, one brand at a time. Sober & Co’s Blinkit sales grew 37.8% a month on average, and TailBlaze Longevity sells its dog food through WhatsApp, Blinkit and BBNow. For small brands, the 10-minute shelf is now the launch pad.

• Flipkart gears up for the festive rush. It added 14 million cubic feet of warehousing and 750+ new PIN codes ahead of Big Billion Days, with storage capacity up 50%.

• Lab-grown keeps sparkling. Zinara crossed ₹1 crore ARR with 400+ designs, and actor Nikita Dutta is among its backers. Lab-grown diamonds were in our Big Story two weeks ago too, with ONYA.

Last week we asked you: stores or quick commerce? This week, six brands answered with store announcements. You’ll find them in our new Store Watch.

But the bigger story is about exits. ITC now owns all of Yoga Bar, and the price tells every founder what a winning D2C brand is worth to a big FMCG company. Being bought, though, isn’t the finish line, as two Aditya Birla-owned brands showed this week.

Inside: the exit math, five D2C deals, the $222 Mn quarter, and one week to go for FRONTIER Mumbai.

The Big Story: The Exit Is Back

What happened

ITC now owns 100% of Yoga Bar. On 28 September, ITC paid ₹645 crore in cash for the rest of Sproutlife Foods, Yoga Bar’s parent, taking its stake from about 47.5% to 100%. ITC first bought in back in May 2023, paying ₹175 crore for 39.42%. In that time, Yoga Bar’s turnover went from ₹108 crore in FY24 to ₹200 crore in FY25 and ₹452 crore in FY26.

Do the math, and the brand got about 2.8 times more valuable. The 2023 price works out to roughly ₹444 crore for the whole company. This week’s price works out to roughly ₹1,229 crore. That’s about 2.7 times FY26 revenue. (Our calculation from the two deal prices.)

It isn’t a one-off. In February, HUL bought the remaining 49% of Oziva for ₹824 crore, valuing it at about ₹1,682 crore. Oziva’s FY26 revenue was ₹463.4 crore. And last week, Accel and 360 ONE sold part of their BlueStone stake to mutual funds. The money is coming back to the people who backed D2C early.

Why it matters

Exits are what keep early-stage money flowing. When investors get cash back, they write the next cheque. Two nutrition brands, each worth well over ₹1,000 crore to a giant, give every seed investor a real-world answer to “what’s this worth if it works?”

The other side

Being bought is not the finish line. Aditya Birla’s TMRW owns majority stakes in two D2C fashion brands, and both filed numbers this week.

• Bewakoof: revenue grew 40% to ₹243 crore, but losses grew 19% to ₹87.4 crore. It spent ₹1.38 to earn each rupee of revenue.

• The Indian Garage Co: growth slowed to 15%, to ₹234.6 crore, after doubling the year before. Ad spend doubled to ₹29.3 crore, and losses rose to ₹28.7 crore.

Our view

Big FMCG is buying better-for-you, and paying for proof. Yoga Bar and Oziva have three things in common: a category the buyer didn’t own, demand built online, and revenue past ₹450 crore. That’s the profile that gets paid.

For founders, the lesson is simple. Build what a giant can’t build in-house: trust in a specific category, and customers who come back. Distribution is the one thing ITC and HUL already have. Fashion shows the risk of the opposite: when growth depends on ad spend, a big parent doesn’t fix the economics.

What to watch

Whether ITC’s distribution can take Yoga Bar into kirana stores and double it again from ₹452 crore. If it does, expect every FMCG giant to go shopping.

Also funded, consumer-adjacent: EV maker Simple Energy raised ₹1,750 crore ($182 Mn) in Series C, led by the family office of Thyrocare founder Dr A. Velumani.

The signal. Three of the five rounds came from people, not funds: Ashish Kacholia, Aman Gupta, and Bangalore Watch Company’s own customers. Founders are raising from those who already believe in the product. And Sauce led a D2C round for the second week running.

The Number: $222 Mn

That’s how much e-commerce startups raised in Q3 2026, according to Entrackr’s quarterly report. AI took $635.3 Mn and EV startups $583 Mn. Indian startups raised about $2.9 Bn in total, down from $3.5 Bn in Q2.

What it means for founders: venture money is chasing AI and vehicles right now, not brands. That’s exactly why this week’s exits matter. For D2C, the strongest pitch is no longer “we’re growing fast.” It’s “here’s who buys us.”

Store Watch

Our answer to last week’s question, in six moves:

• SleepyCat opened its 50th store, in Gurugram.

• Third Wave Coffee opened its 250th café, in Lucknow, and is aiming for about 320 by FY27.

• Anera Silver by Kushals opened its first store, in Bengaluru. It plans six stores in eight weeks and 100–150 in five years.

• Estilocus wants to go from 2 to 30 exclusive stores in FY27, while staying bootstrapped.

• Interio by Godrej is targeting 1,500 stores in three years, up from 1,015+ showrooms today. D2C is 15% of its business.

• Swiss Beauty Select is aiming for a 65:35 offline-to-online split on its way to ₹100 crore in FY27–28.

Silver jewellery shows up again: after Unniyarcha’s quick-commerce model last week, Kushals is betting on stores.

Quick Hits

• Ranbir Kapoor enters FMCG. His new shower-care brand, Flux Theory, launches with five body washes, sold on its website, marketplaces and quick commerce. The target: people who still use soap.

• A cricket captain for rooftop solar. Freyr Energy signed Rohit Sharma as its first brand ambassador. In a category held back by awareness, a famous face is a trust shortcut.

• Mutual funds keep buying quick commerce. SBI Mutual Fund lifted its Swiggy stake above 5% with a ₹300 crore share purchase.

• The Q3 scorecard. Consumer brands Milky Mist and Purple Style Labs listed in Q3, among six startup listings. On the other side, The Ayurveda Co was one of six startups that shut down.

• Netmeds stays profitable. The Reliance-backed pharmacy posted ₹44.7 crore in FY26 revenue and a ₹5.5 crore profit.

Three jewellery stories landed this week, at three very different price points. Together they show why jewellery has become one of the most reliable categories in Indian D2C, and why the right playbook depends on what your product costs.

Inside: the jewellery playbooks, six D2C deals, and the number that explains Oziva’s year.

The Big Story: One category, three playbooks

What happened

At the top, BlueStone showed what a full cycle looks like. Accel and 360 ONE sold a combined 4.07% stake for about ₹513 crore this week. The buyers were institutions including Mirae Asset, Nippon India, SBI Life and Bajaj Life. BlueStone has now posted three profitable quarters in a row. In Q1 FY27 it made a net profit of ₹5.96 crore, against a loss of ₹34.74 crore a year earlier. It runs 352 stores across 139 cities.

In the middle, lab-grown diamonds are going offline. ONYA raised ₹12.5 crore in a pre-Series A round led by Divisa Family Office. It has eight flagship stores across Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad, and ₹3.5 crore in monthly recurring revenue. Next, it plans both company-owned stores and franchises. Limelight, #6 in our Top 10 D2C Funding Deals of 2026, is raising for stores too.

At the entry level, silver is selling in 10 minutes. Unniyarcha raised ₹10 crore led by Sauce VC. Its pieces typically cost ₹1,000 to ₹3,000. Half its sales come from its own website, and 45% from quick commerce. It has no stores at all.

Why it matters

Jewellery solves problems most D2C categories struggle with. It doesn’t expire, so inventory holds its value. People buy it again for weddings, festivals and gifts. And it carries enough value per order to pay for real distribution, whether that’s a store or a dark store.

But there’s no single jewellery playbook. The channel follows the price. At ₹50,000, a customer wants to see and touch the piece, and to trust the seller. At ₹2,000, it’s a gift decided on the way to a dinner.

Our view

Price decides the channel, and the brands winning in jewellery know exactly which one they’re in. Above roughly ₹10,000, stores are worth the cost because they build trust. Below ₹3,000, quick commerce may be the most efficient channel in Indian D2C right now. The risk sits in the middle, where brands try to do both before they’ve mastered either.

BlueStone’s stake sale matters beyond BlueStone. When venture funds sell to mutual funds and insurers at a ₹12,000+ crore market value, it tells every investor that consumer brands in India can deliver an exit. That makes the next early cheque easier to write.

What to watch

Whether ONYA-style franchises keep store quality consistent as they scale. Franchising is the fastest way to add stores, and the fastest way to dilute a premium brand.

The Deal Sheet: 19–25 September

Six D2C brands raised money this week, all at an early stage. The five disclosed rounds add up to ₹44.5 crore.

Also funded, consumer-adjacent: Ultraviolette raised $85 Mn led by Yali Capital and TDK Ventures, and quick-commerce healthcare platform Rio Health raised ₹43.08 crore led by Version One Ventures.

The signal. Sauce led two of the six rounds, and both already have a distribution edge: Unniyarcha earns 45% of its sales on quick commerce, and betterhood works with a community of 7,000+ physiotherapists. At seed stage, investors are backing brands with a distribution edge from day one.

The Number: ₹1.04

That’s what HUL-owned Oziva spent to earn every rupee of revenue in FY26, according to its filings, as reported by Entrackr. Revenue grew 80% to ₹463.4 crore. But ad spend more than doubled to ₹246.2 crore, and losses widened 4.4 times to ₹18.5 crore.

The lesson for founders: growth bought with advertising shows up in the revenue line and the loss line at the same time. Even with HUL behind it, Oziva now needs repeat customers to do the work that ads did last year.

Quick Hits

• Nykaa and L’Oréal team up to back beauty startups. Nykaa and BOLD, L’Oréal’s venture fund, will jointly make minority investments in emerging Indian beauty brands, with founders keeping operational and creative control. For beauty founders, that’s capital with shelf space attached.

• AceVector goes public. The parent of Snapdeal, Unicommerce and Stellaro Brands opened its ₹420 crore IPO on 25 September, closing on 29 September. It raised ₹189 crore from anchor investors, and its FY26 revenue grew 29% to ₹510.38 crore.

• Amazon’s quick commerce bet is getting expensive. Amazon Now and Amazon Fresh reported ₹3,065 crore in FY26 revenue and a ₹1,158 crore loss. Amazon runs around 750 quick commerce stores and is targeting about 1,300 by April. For D2C brands, that’s one more 10-minute shelf to plan for.

• Captain Fresh crosses ₹5,000 crore. Its FY26 revenue rose 52% to ₹5,169 crore, and adjusted EBITDA grew 2.7 times to ₹371 crore. It is now targeting ₹10,000 crore in FY27 as a global packaged seafood business.

• Ultraviolette heads to the US. The Bengaluru electric motorcycle brand raised $85 Mn and plans to enter the US in 2027, another Indian consumer brand building for global markets.
